About Me

Hello and welcome, I am Bernard and I am a visual storyteller. I produce digital media in the form of photos and videos to tell stories. You will be able to find a list of services that I provide below, if you don’t see it there, do not hesitate to contact me so that I can help you meet your needs with my network of media producers and creators.

I started my career in Wedding Photography in 1999 shooting in both Black & White and Colour in analog film. To date, I have helped more than 800 couples relive stories of major milestones by helping them capture their precious moments.

In 2016 I achieved a Distinction for my Master of Arts in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from the prestigoius University of the Arts London. My final major project ‘Operation Stingray’ highlighted the vulnerability of your personal information that’s stored in your mobile phone. This project explored the possibilities of your mobile phone being tapped without you even knowing in the name of national security.

Visual Storytelling is an important part of what I do and I have been teaching since 2019 in various private and MOE schools’ CCA groups on the importance of how to tell a good visual story on top of basic photography and video production lessons. I am now currently conducting workshops and courses with Leica Singapore as a recognised Leica Akademia Tutor.

After attaining my Advance Certificate in Learning & Performance (ACLP) certification from Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) in 2023, I have started facilitating Skill Future Singapore (SSG) Basic Photography courses and have taught over four hundred learners to date. With the appointment as a Canon Master (Canon Singapore’s Ambassadorship program) in 2023, I have been actively involved with various activations to educate, train and inspire the public in Visual Storytelling. I have been invited to judge for several photography competitions and have led career talks to over 300 students. I enjoy speaking and sharing about my journey, hoping to inspire the next generation. That is why when I was offered the opportunity to be a facilitator with RESPECT SG, I jumped in immediately with a YES! As of 1 July 2025 I have also been accepted to be mentor for NTUC Youth Network, to help and guide youths make informed decisions about their career path ahead.

Through the years I have served many clients like Team Singapore, Singapore Disability Sports Council, Credit Counselling Singapore, Singapore National Paralympic Council, Canon Singapore, BMW, Talent Plus Singapore, Nanyang Inc, Citrus Media, Molton Brown, Channel, Lancôme, Body Shop, Estee Lauder, Huggies, Grand Hyatt Hotel, Andaz Hotel, Grand Park City Hall, Q Industries, SEJ Frozen Foods, Chef D’table, FreezePak, NTUC FairPrice, OUE Social Kitchen, Halia Restaurant, OK Chicken Rice, property and insurance agents from various agencies, etc… producing digital media for their marketing purposes.

Finally, in early 2024, I restarted Avenue 8 Academy, the training arm of Avenue 8 Studios. It first started in 2005 when Kelvin J. Lim joined Avenue 8 Studios and he became my first student. Now as my business partner in Avenue 8 Academy, we conduct workshops to help photography enthusiasts to improve their imagery skills. We have workshops for all genres conducted by instructors who are experienced photographers in that field. I take in 2-3 interns per year and help them achieve their goal of running their own photography business. This program has produced 12 professional photographers so far, 5 of which are still going strong. This route will guide the interns in all aspects to develop a functional business from sharpening their photography skills to producing efficient photo editing processes to sales, marketing and ways to sustain a photography business in Singapore.
